| Savvy, by Ingrid Law Mibs Beaumont is a girl who is about to enter her teenage years. As if being a teenager isn't complicated enough, turning thirteen, in her family, means getting a special power. Because there is no way to predict what these powers will be, their thirteenth birthdays are extremely private and low key. But when her father is put in critical care, due to a car accident, she and her siblings, Fish, Samson, and Gypsy, suddenly find themselves in the care of the preacher's wife, Mrs. Rosemary, while their mother and older brother, Rocket, are at the hospital. When Mrs. Rosemary decides to throw a huge party to celebrate Mibs' birthday, Mibs, Samson, and fish abandon the party with Mrs, Rosemary's two children, Will and Bobbi, in order to hitch hike on a bus to the hospital. But when the bus starts driving the opposite direction, only one thing is clear: That nothing is going to go as planned.
This book is extremely entertaining. It is completely unpredictable, and kept me guessing until the very end. I enjoyed this book immensely, and would recommend it to anyone, but I do think it would be more appealing to girls.
